Comic Relief

Here is a photo of us all dressed up in red last Friday in aid of Comic Relief.  Thank you to you all for your generous donations.  We had great fun in the hall. It was hard work dancing for 20 minutes! Here are some of our moves...

Spring Walk

Today we went on a walk to see what was growing around our walk. It was interesting to compare this with what we saw back on our Winter walk. We could see that there are things in the process of growing in our vegetable garden. The Forest School area looked quite bare. Jessica made a good comment that if we come back in the Summer things might have grown. Freya spotted that there were some buds developing in these troughs on the playground. However, there were plenty of beautiful Spring flowers on display in the flower beds at the front of the school.

Planting potatoes

Today, we worked in small groups to plant some potatoes in the vegetable garden. Firstly, we had to dig a hole with the trowel. We had already completed the ’chitting’ process. As you can see the   potatoes have started sprouting. This should mean that we get a good crop once they are planted. We covered the potatoes with soil and gently patted it down. Then we lightly watered the soil. Now it is a case of giving them time to grow and waiting to harvest them.

What a giggle!

We looked at James Carter's website as a class and had great fun reading through and performing lots of his poems. We really liked the poems that are written in the shape of what the poem is about like this football one. What Can You Do With A Football ? Well... You can kick it you can catch it you can bounce it – all around. You can grab it you can pat it you can roll it – on the ground. You can throw it you can head it you can hit it – with a bat. You can biff it you can boot it you can spin it you can shoot it you can drop it you can stop it – just like that!
