Summer Poems

We had a great time making our Summer Poems this week and then on Friday we got to perform them in front of the class. Here are some photos.

Rockets and Disco!

Last Thursday, was full of excitement. Firstly, we were lucky enough to have a real scientist who let off a rocket on the school field. We were told beforehand to run if the rocket came our way, and guess what.. it did! So we scarpered in all directions, but luckily it ended up in a tree and not on us! It was great fun. And the fun didn't stop there...Lots of us came back to school later for the disco. Whilst it was really hot in the hall, this did not stop us from dancing with our friends the whole time.    Some of the photos are a bit blurry as the camera didn't like the lights and rapid movements but we like the action shots as they capture the fun that was had by all. And to finish off the disco was of course the snow machine!

Warwick Castle

Yesterday, we had the most amazing day at Warwick Castle. When we first arrived we headed up the towers and did the rampart walk. Some of us were nervous about climbing all those spiral stairs and getting to the top. But we were very proud of ourselves and it was a great sense of achievement and relief when we got to the bottom of the last tower. Next was the maze. We collected our 'Time Passport' and set about finding the six periods of history and collected a stamp from each one. We had a giggle taking these photos and finding out some interesting facts about the Gunpowder Plot. After we had collected our prize, we then headed to meet the bowman. He was very entertaining and told us lots about medieval warfare. We really enjoyed watching him try and hit the target. He made it look much easier than it actually is. Whilst we had our lunch we watched the amazing Falconer's Quest Birds of Prey display. It was quite a spectacle and having

Shoesday!

We were raising money for charity today.  We donated a pound and then we could wear our own shoes to school.

Quarters

We love to make Maths hands-on as much as possible. We have been doing lots of work recently on fractions and it has been a perfect opportunity to do lots of practical activities.  We were really good at using the unifix cubes to explore lots of different ways of showing a quarter. We made some interesting shapes and learnt that although the shape might look different, there was still one quarter that was represented by using a different coloured cube.

Lego Houses

Yesterday we had great fun testing different materials to see how waterproof they were. We were trying to find out which was the best material for a waterproof roof for a Lego house.  We discovered that the plastic wallet was the best material for building a Lego house roof because it was very waterproof and the plastic did not break like some of the other materials we tested.
