And the winners were...

So here are the results of the Children's Mental Health Week poster competition... In first place was Milena. Our runner-up was Rawdon. Well done to Milena and Rawdon but well done to all of the children for entering the competition. We had some really super entries.

The Dogs Trust

We were lucky enough to have a visit from a member of The Dogs Trust in Evesham today.  She brought with her a cuddly soft dog called Biscuit.  She told us all about the importance of walking your dog, brushing your dog, playing with your dog and even taught us how t o pick up dog poo!  We found this very funny!  We have lots of ideas for our writing on Friday now.

Children's Mental Health Week

We had a busy week exploring this year's theme 'Healthy: Inside and Out.' Mrs Gent kicked off the week with an assembly to the whole school, making us think about what makes us healthy and telling us that being healthy isn't just about looking after our bodies but it's about looking after our minds too. Back in our class, we had a great time sharing our Show and Tell with our friends. Thank you so much for helping us at home by completing the Show and Tell information sheets and for all of the generous donations too. Lastly, we all took part in a poster competition. We had to design a poster about something we had learned during Children's Mental Health Week. On Thursday, we will find out who was the winner and runner-up in our class so watch this space...

Sharks

This week we have been learning all about sharks. We are going to be writing about them on Friday in our Big Writing.  We have learnt that the Great White shark can grow to be 6 metres in length.  We went onto the playground to measure out a 6 metre shark and then worked with a partner to write Wow words inside the shark.

Maths Day

Captain Morgan came to visit us at Swan Lane today!  Year One went into the hall and worked together in pairs to solve his Numeracy problems.

Baptism

In R.E we have been looking at the Christian ceremony of Baptism.  The children were invited to bring in items from their own Baptism or a Baptism they had been to, to share with the class.  We have really enjoyed discussing all of the different things.  Thank you to all of the parents that sent them in!

Sweet House

In Literacy, we read the story of Hansel and Gretel and used the sweet house as a stimulus for our writing.  We designed our own sweet house, made a shopping list and then followed our sweet house designs to create our own delicious house.  They were delectable!
