Parliament Week

On Thursday we were involved in making a very important decision. We had to decide which campaign we wanted to vote for. In assembly the School Council, Eco Committee and Cygnet News put forward their argument to try and persuade us to vote for their campaign.

Here is how we voted in 1GH.

Adventure playground - 14 votes
Nature trail - 7 votes
Stage lights - 2 votes

Mason and Marselis had the important job of posting our envelope containing the results into the ballot box.

Once all the votes had been counted, we received the results in a special envelope. We were overjoyed as the adventure playground won! The excitement didn’t end there, as we then got to have a go at designing how we thought the new adventure playground should look.

Warwick Castle

Yesterday, we had the most amazing day at Warwick Castle. When we first arrived we headed up the towers and did the rampart walk. Some of us were nervous about climbing all those spiral stairs and getting to the top. But we were very proud of ourselves and it was a great sense of achievement and relief when we got to the bottom of the last tower. Next was the maze. We collected our 'Time Passport' and set about finding the six periods of history and collected a stamp from each one. We had a giggle taking these photos and finding out some interesting facts about the Gunpowder Plot. After we had collected our prize, we then headed to meet the bowman. He was very entertaining and told us lots about medieval warfare. We really enjoyed watching him try and hit the target. He made it look much easier than it actually is. Whilst we had our lunch we watched the amazing Falconer's Quest Birds of Prey display. It was quite a spectacle and having...

Rockets and Disco!

Last Thursday, was full of excitement. Firstly, we were lucky enough to have a real scientist who let off a rocket on the school field. We were told beforehand to run if the rocket came our way, and guess what.. it did! So we scarpered in all directions, but luckily it ended up in a tree and not on us! It was great fun. And the fun didn't stop there...Lots of us came back to school later for the disco. Whilst it was really hot in the hall, this did not stop us from dancing with our friends the whole time.    Some of the photos are a bit blurry as the camera didn't like the lights and rapid movements but we like the action shots as they capture the fun that was had by all. And to finish off the disco was of course the snow machine!

Have You Filled a Bucket Today?

Today we read the story ‘Have You Filled a Bucket Today?' This book introduces the idea that we all carry around an invisible bucket with us every day. The bucket's purpose is to hold good thoughts and good feelings about ourselves. We talked about how we can fill ours and other people’s buckets by carrying out acts of kindness. Mrs Hurst set us the challenge to achieve one act of kindness this afternoon. If we have achieved this, then we will have brought a certificate home with us. The challenge does not end there. Mrs Hurst has asked us to show kindness and fill up the buckets of those people at home. Please send in any examples of this as we would love to hear about how our lesson on kindness is spreading beyond the school gates.
