Homework

Thank you so much to those children who have been bringing things in from home to share with us at school. We love that the children are excited and engaged with their learning and wanting to continue this at home. Creating a thirst for learning is so important to us and we are so pleased that they can share this with you too.

Lots of children made monsters and rather interesting concoctions at home when we were looking at Morris the Mankiest Monster and they helped to make a fantastic Big Writing display in the classroom.

Last week, some children brought objects in for the Autumn display to help us with our Autumn poem. After half term we will be reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It would be great if the children could bring in anything they would like to share with us about this story.

Warwick Castle

Yesterday, we had the most amazing day at Warwick Castle. When we first arrived we headed up the towers and did the rampart walk. Some of us were nervous about climbing all those spiral stairs and getting to the top. But we were very proud of ourselves and it was a great sense of achievement and relief when we got to the bottom of the last tower. Next was the maze. We collected our 'Time Passport' and set about finding the six periods of history and collected a stamp from each one. We had a giggle taking these photos and finding out some interesting facts about the Gunpowder Plot. After we had collected our prize, we then headed to meet the bowman. He was very entertaining and told us lots about medieval warfare. We really enjoyed watching him try and hit the target. He made it look much easier than it actually is. Whilst we had our lunch we watched the amazing Falconer's Quest Birds of Prey display. It was quite a spectacle and having...

Have You Filled a Bucket Today?

Today we read the story ‘Have You Filled a Bucket Today?' This book introduces the idea that we all carry around an invisible bucket with us every day. The bucket's purpose is to hold good thoughts and good feelings about ourselves. We talked about how we can fill ours and other people’s buckets by carrying out acts of kindness. Mrs Hurst set us the challenge to achieve one act of kindness this afternoon. If we have achieved this, then we will have brought a certificate home with us. The challenge does not end there. Mrs Hurst has asked us to show kindness and fill up the buckets of those people at home. Please send in any examples of this as we would love to hear about how our lesson on kindness is spreading beyond the school gates.

Lego Houses

Yesterday we had great fun testing different materials to see how waterproof they were. We were trying to find out which was the best material for a waterproof roof for a Lego house.  We discovered that the plastic wallet was the best material for building a Lego house roof because it was very waterproof and the plastic did not break like some of the other materials we tested.
