Posting A Letter

As part of our Geography work this half term we have been exploring maps of the local area and looking at addresses.  We wrote our name and address (in our very best handwriting) on an envelope and headed out in to the afternoon sunshine to post them.  The children are looking forward to them dropping through their letter boxes in the coming days.  Please return the envelopes to school so that the children can share them with the class and stick them into their Geography books.  If you'd like to post a letter or card with your child we'd love to receive some of them at school.
Our address is:

100% Attendance

As a reward for achieving 100% attendance for a whole week, 1GH will be able to come to school in non-uniform on Wednesday 28th November 2018.  Well done 1GH!   Please remember the children will still need sensible shoes and warm clothes for playtimes.

Winter Morning By Ogden Nash

Today we started learning this poem ahead of our poetry recital at the end of this half term. If you have mislaid the paper copy, here it is for you to enjoy performing at home. There is also an option for children to learn their own poem and recite it in front of the other classes (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) if they would like to.  Winter is the king of showmen, Turning tree stumps into snow men And houses into birthday cakes And spreading sugar over lakes. Smooth and clean and frosty white, The world looks good enough to bite. That's the season to be young, Catching snowflakes on your tongue! Snow is snowy when it's snowing. I'm sorry it's slushy when it’s going.

What a giggle!

We looked at James Carter's website as a class and had great fun reading through and performing lots of his poems. We really liked the poems that are written in the shape of what the poem is about like this football one. What Can You Do With A Football ? Well... You can kick it you can catch it you can bounce it – all around. You can grab it you can pat it you can roll it – on the ground. You can throw it you can head it you can hit it – with a bat. You can biff it you can boot it you can spin it you can shoot it you can drop it you can stop it – just like that!
